NOTAP-DG pays courtesy visit on ECOWAS Commissioner, promises good working relationship.
In continuation of his drive to promote synergy among organizations to boost technology development in the country, the Director General of the National Office for Technology and Acquisition (NOTAP), Engr. Umar Buba Bindir, paid a courtesy visit to the Economic Commission of West African States (ECOWAS) Commissioner, Prof. Jean Pierre Ezin recently.
Engr. Bindir said his visit was to explore areas of common interest with the commission especially as it affects Science, Technology and Innovation and ensure that Nigeria becomes a major player in the sector rather than a spectator with little or no contribution to the global technology market.
He informed the commissioner that the Ministry of Science and Technology has seventeen Parastatals under it, adding that when the Eco-post is put together, all the Director Generals under the Ministry shall be invited for familiarization with the Commission.
Engr. Bindir said as an organization saddled with the responsibility of promoting inventive and innovative culture in the country, the major area he would want the commission to collaborate with NOTAP is in the area of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) promotion.
The ECOWAS Commissioner Prof. Ezin said the visit was very timely especially as it had offered the commission the opportunity to be familiar with the mandate of NOTAP as it relates to Science and Technology development in the country, adding that the two organisations will synergize to review Science and Technology development in the continent by finding common grounds for collaboration.
However, it was agreed that NOTAP should facilitate for a meeting between the commission and the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology to kick-start the synergy.
