NOTAP-SWAN to Collaborate on Sports Development Using Local Technology

The National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP) is to collaborate with the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) in developing sports using local technologies.

Receiving members of the Abuja Chapter of SWAN, Director General of NOTAP, Dr. Umar Buba Bindir pointed out that 100 percent of sports is science and emphasized that '' there is need to come together to make Nigeria blossom by using our local technology to build our sports''.
He described the made in Nigeria football domesticated by the NARICT Zaria, as a typical example of a local technology that can be produced enmass and deployed to primary and secondary schools throughout the country. Dr. Bindir pointed out that Nigeria is the only country in sub Saharan Africa that has the technology for football making which has the potential of a 10 billion naira industry.

He charged sports writers to become industrially driven to aid the Transformation Agenda of the present administration.
The Chairman of SWAN Abuja chapter, Kayode Adeniyi who described the association as one of the strongest media bodies in Nigeria, said their visit is to identify with the visionary leadership of the Director General especially in the area of promoting local technologies with regards to sports equipment manufacturing.

He described Dr. Bindir as a friend of sports writers since his stint as Director of Sports Development, Ministry of Sports and promised to support the Director General in his determination to ensure that Nigeria's local technologies are fully developed for the benefit of Nigerians.
