Patent Registration Assistance and Promotion of Intellectual Property
In order to build a strong patent culture in Nigeria, NOTAP provides some patent support services to scientists, researchers and inventors. These are in the areas of patent search to prevent re-inventing the wheel, assessment of inventions for possible modifications to enhance the technical and economic viability of inventions and processing of patent applications at the Patent and Trademark Registry on behalf of the inventors.
In pursuance of the above responsibilities, the Patent Information Documentation Centre (PIDC) within the Office maintains good working relationship with the Trademark and Patent Registry, to facilitate the processing and granting of the patents filed by NOTAP on behalf of inventors. The encouraging results on the patents granted due to the relentless effort of NOTAP in engaging and collaborating with the Trademark and Patent Registry had been remarkably satisfactory over the years.
