Dr. DanAzumi M. Ibrahim – DG NOTAP

DR. DAN-AZUMI MOHAMMED IBRAHIM is the Director General NOTAP.

He was born on the 1st of October 1960 in Hardawa, Misau L.G.A Bauchi State. He attended Government Secondary School Bauchi, University of Maiduguri where he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture, a Masters Degree in Soil Microbiology from the University of Newcastle Upontyne, UK and a PhD (Soil Fertility) from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi in 2004.

Dr. Ibrahim started his working career as a lecturer in the Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Soil Science at the University of Maiduguri and later joined the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) where he rose to the rank of Deputy Director. He joined NOTAP from RMRDC in September 2010 as Acting Director, Technology Promotion and Commercialization Department and was elevated to the position of Director on 1st December, 2014.

He has undergone many capacity development programmes including; International Training on Strategy for Sustainable Agricultural Development at the Institute of Rural Development Hyderabad, India and International Training on Breeding of Horticultural Crops at the Institute of Vegetables, Flowers, China Academy of Science, Beijing, China.

Dr. Ibrahim has many scientific publications to his credit and has handled many assignments for the Federal Government of Nigeria and International Organizations. He is currently a Consultant to UNIDO on Establishment of Neem-Based Bio-Pesticide in West Africa and Member of International Experts on the development and implementation of ECOWAS Policy on Science and Technology (ECOPOST).

He is a founding member of the Neem Association of Nigeria and member of Soil Science Society of Nigeria and Fisheries Society of Nigeria.

He was the Director Technology Innovation and Commercialization department before his appointment as Ag. Director General.

His special interest is in human capacity and institutional development to reduce dependency on foreign technology consumption and sports, particularly hockey, where he represented Nigeria in international competitions and won many laurels.
