Functions of the Information Communication Technology (ICT) Department
The ICT Department performs a wide range of strategic and operational functions, which cut across the above three divisions are as follows:

A) Development of NOTAP's IT Strategy
The ICT department Develops and coordinates the execution of NOTAP’s IT strategies to ensure they align with our organizational goals. This responsibility includes assessing the current IT infrastructure, identifying gaps, defining future vision and tactical plans, creating roadmap for implementations that address areas like architecture, cybersecurity, and resource allocation. It is the function of the department to align modern technologies with business goals to ensure our ICT investments support the implementation of our mandate.
B) ICT Project Supervision
The Department oversees the implementation of all computerization projects to ensure their alignment with our business goals and implementation strategies for NOTAP’s mandate. The department coordinates the planning, execution, and monitoring of ICT projects, and ensures that they are delivered on time and within approved budget.
C) Infrastructure Development & Management
Another important function of the department is the deployment, management, and securing of our ICT systems and assets to guarantee high availability, data integrity, and compliance with relevant regulations. The Department ensures that NOTAP's ICT infrastructure and operations are procured and managed in such a way as to provide enablement to NOTAP’s operational objectives. This is critical as NOTAP’s infrastructure is expected to meet the standards required for the digital transformation of the Office in line with the strategic objectives and actions recommended by NITDA through the Nigeria Government Enterprise Architecture (NGEA) roadmap.
D) Maintaining ICT Operations to Provide Services Availability
The Departments ensures the steady availability of that ICT services by keeping the ICT equipment and systems optimally maintained, and providing user support. Since
most NOTAP’s operations are ICT driven, the department’s major role is to ensure steady, smooth and efficient operation of all ICT systems and services.
E) Network and Internet Connectivity
Network and internet connectivity is crucial for business operations, enabling communication, streamlining daily tasks & activities, and enhancing business interactions and service delivery. Therefore, the Department supports the execution of NOTAP’s mandate by maintaining steady network connectivity, internal IP phone operation and Internet services.
F) Data Protection and Security Management
This is a major responsibility of the ICT department since data protection and security management is critical to the maintenance of our data integrity. The Department fulfils this role by implementing and managing technical safeguards, enforcing access controls, managing the data lifecycle, and ensuring compliance with data protection and privacy regulations. The data protection unit of the department manages network access control, monitors threats & intrusions, and manages data from creation to disposal. The department is also responsible for disaster recovery and maintenance of data security. As the volume of our data grows, so does the risk from cyberattacks, and unauthorized network intrusions. Therefore, the Department develops and deploys strong management strategy to safeguard sensitive information, and ensure business continuity, and maintenance of customer trust. The Department relates with the Nigeria Bureau for Data Protection (NBDP) to ensure regulatory compliance with the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR).
G) Web deployment and Management
Strategic web deployment is critical to supporting our operation and services. Web presence is fundamental to NOTAP’s operational strategy. NOTAP’s Management and the ICT department understand that effective online deployments shall promote our visibility and ensure service delivery to the Nigerian public. Therefore, maintaining NOTAP’s web presence in line with the above objectives is a major function of the ICT Department.
H) Capacity Building
The Department partners with the HRF Department to build and continuously strengthen ICT capacity, and develop core technical ICT skills and competencies among all staff through regular training. The ICT department also engages with other departments to identify training gaps, information technology requirements, and provide tailored solutions to meet the needs.
