In this present era of globalization and liberalization of the world economy, a nation must be able to harness her ideas, inventions, innovations and creative works towards technological advancement and global competitiveness.
To nurture national talents, Nigeria requires the identification of her researchers and inventors create an enabling environment, initiate strategies to protect all the stakeholders and their creative works, and convert them to products and services that can solve our national problems. The Federal Government of Nigeria, in recognition and appreciation of the above facts, established Federal Ministry of Science, Technology and innovation with its various agencies to carry out such activities. The National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP) is one of these agencies.
NOTAP’s Mission is to promote Nigeria’s technological development through inflow adaptation of foreign technologies and development of indigenous technologies, while our vision is to be a distinguished Agency for Nigeria’s technology promotion and development.
Our activities include Evaluation/Registration and monitoring of Technology Transfer Agreements, promotion of locally developed technologies, Promotion of Intellectual Property culture, Technology Advisory and Support Services, Commercialization of R&D Results, Promotion of Research-Industry Linkage, Maintenance of a Compendium on R&D activities in the country, Production and Publication of Industrial Project Profiles on SMEs, etc.
Our major goals are;
- Promote and add value to Research Results to encourage indigenous inventors.
- Foster Policy Advocacy; by Engaging with governmental and regulatory bodies to advocate for policies that promote technology acquisition and innovation, ensuring a conducive environment for technological advancement and economic growth in Nigeria.
It is my humble belief that NOTAP, through its current and future activities, backed with dedicated and efficient personnel, adequate Government support and funding, would take this country to greater heights scientifically and technologically.

Technology Transfer Registration (TTR)
i. Evaluation of technology transfer agreements /contracts;
ii. Registration of technology transfer agreements entered into by Nigerian iii. entrepreneurs/ MDAs with their foreign technical partners;
Technology Innovation and Commercialization (TIC)
Coordinating the preparation of feasibility studies to confirm economic viability of projects and provide relevant information for entrepreneurs and financiers;
Technology Acquisition and Research Coordination (TARC) Department
Managing the technology acquisition and research emerging from the Nigerian System of Innovation comprising the tertiary institutions (Universities, Poly/Mono-technics, and Colleges of Education), Research and Allied Institutions
Corporate Planning (CP)
a) Coordinate the development and Strategic plan for medium, short and long term budget preparations for the Agency budget activities is consistent with nation’s technology objectives.
b) Coordinate the development of the Agency’s annual work plan.

Initiating strategies to source for consultancy services and projects based on the competencies of the Office over the years in the following areas:
