July 3, 2026The management of Stanbic IBTC Holdings Plc, has reaffirmed its commitment to regulatory compliance and national development during a courtesy visit to the National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP) in Abuja.
The group, led by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Chuma Nwokocha, met with the Director General of NOTAP, Dr. Edith Obiageli Amadiobi and other top management staff and pledged to strengthen collaboration between the financial sector and Nigeria’s science, technology, and innovation (STI) ecosystem. Speaking during the visit, Mr. Nwokocha promised the company’s full compliance with NOTAP’s regulatory framework on Technology Transfer Agreements (TTAs). He noted that adherence to regulatory rules is critical to building investor confidence and driving sustainable economic growth. He said that as a leading financial institution, Stanbic IBTC is committed to playing by the rules, adding that they will ensure full compliance with NOTAP’s regulations on technology transfer and continue to support policies that deepen Nigeria’s innovation capacity.
In a major boost to NOTAP’s flagship programme, the CEO also announced Stanbic IBTC’s support for the 2026 NOTAP Innovation Summit 2.0 as a key stakeholder. The company pledged to partner with NOTAP in funding, mentorship, and creating market linkages for Nigerian innovators and startups.
Responding, Dr. Amadiobi commended Stanbic IBTC for the gesture and described the partnership as a “model of how private sector leadership can accelerate technology domestication and commercialization.” She emphasized that strategic collaboration with institutions like Stanbic IBTC is central to NOTAP’s vision of repositioning the agency as a driver of Nigeria’s knowledge economy.

“With the support of stakeholders like Stanbic IBTC, the 2026 Innovation Summit will provide a stronger platform to move Nigerian research from the laboratory to the market place, create jobs, and attract investment,” Dr. Amadiobi added.
The DG encouraged the company to fastcheck if all foreign technologies deployed into the operations of the company are all registered with NOTAP. She said that the Office was primarily established in the early 70s to regulate the inflow of foreign technologies but also has the duty to encourage the efficient development and domestication of indigenous technologies.
Dr Amadiobi used the opportunity to call on all Nigerian entrepreneurs and their foreign partners to ensure that all technology agreements taking effect in Nigeria are registered with NOTAP before the deployment of such technologies to avoid penalties.
